Rose Shrikhand is a summery dessert made of yogurt with flavors of rose. It’s succulent and melt in mouth texture gives a perfect ending to a meal.

What is your favorite snack. For me , it’s always yogurt. Be it savory or sweet. I love yogurt in any form.  For me it’s an all year around favorite snack.  So whenever , I am super hungry and I crave to binge. Yes, it happens with me sometimes.  I always reach out for a cup of yogurt.

In India, setting yogurt at home was a daily routine. But after settling in Dubai,  I have never made yogurt. We get many good quality packs of yogurt. But my favorite is Al Rawabi brand.  I totally love this brand yogurt due to it rich taste, more like greek yogurt. And also the texture is just amazing.

Making Rose Shrikhand  or any Shrikhand is the easiest thing  to do in the world. Patience is the key to this recipe as the yogurt has to be drained out of  all its liquid for that succulent texture. I usually keep it overnight in fridge in strainer. And on next day,  sugar or honey and flavors have to be added. Whip it up nicely and we are done. Sounds easy right. I said so.

For this recipe, I have used pure rose water. Rose essence also can be used. Sweetener choice is yours. Honey or Sugar. For me honey tops my sweetener list. Rose water is transparent and has no color.  And I needed to give some color. To get this color, I always use  few drops of beetroot juice. I don’t like any artificial coloring. But as I always say, choice is yours. Whatever convenient use it.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yogurt/Curd
  • 6-7 tbsp honey /powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp rose water
  • few drops of beetroot juice
  • For Garnish (optional)
  • Biscuit Crumbs
  • Rose petals

Instructions

  1. Strain the yogurt overnight in fridge.
  2. Next day remove from strainer & add all the remaining ingredients
  3. Whip up nicely.
  4. Garnish with biscuits & Rose petals
  5. Cool & serve

Notes

Can be stored in fridge upto 3 days..
